Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce, or mixed greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup pickles, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or cheese of choice
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons pickle relish or finely chopped pickles
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic or onion powder.
  3. Cook, breaking apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Drain excess fat if needed and set aside.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, and vinegar or lemon juice until smooth.
  6. Wash and chop lettuce, slice tomatoes, pickles, and red onion.
  7. Divide lettuce evenly among bowls.
  8. Top with cooked beef, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and cheese.
  9. Drizzle burger sauce over each bowl or serve on the side.

Notes

Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease. Assemble bowls just before serving to keep lettuce crisp. Sauce can be made ahead for better flavor.
