Simple Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken You’ll Love

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sliced green onions, optional
  • Sesame seeds, optional

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Place the chicken in the slow cooker in an even layer.
  3. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken and turn to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours until tender.
  5. Remove the chicken and whisk together cornstarch and water.
  6. Stir the slurry into the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook on high until the sauce thickens.
  8. Return the chicken to the slow cooker and toss to coat.
  9. Shred the chicken if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Use low sodium soy sauce to control salt levels and cook on low for the most tender chicken.
