Simple Strawberry Cream Puffs for Spring Desserts

These simple strawberry cream puffs are a light and elegant spring dessert made with flaky puff pastry, softly whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. Easy to prepare yet beautiful to serve, they are perfect for brunches, gatherings, and seasonal celebrations.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, for dusting
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra strawberries, for garnish (optional)
  • Powdered sugar, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the puff pastry on the baking sheet, prick lightly with a fork, and dust with powdered sugar.
  3. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown and fully puffed, then remove and let cool completely.
  4. In a bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with powdered sugar and set aside for 10 minutes.
  5. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  6. Slice the cooled puff pastry horizontally or cut into squares.
  7. Spread or pipe whipped cream onto the bottom layer of pastry.
  8. Spoon the strawberries evenly over the cream.
  9. Top with the remaining pastry layer.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with extra strawberries or mint if desired.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

Assemble just before serving to keep the pastry crisp. Make sure the puff pastry is fully cooled before adding the cream to prevent melting.
