  • 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
  • 10โ€“12 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut into thirds
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Marinara sauce, pizza sauce, or pesto for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll pizza dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick and cut into 2-inch squares.
  3. Place one piece of mozzarella in the center of each dough square.
  4. Wrap dough tightly around cheese, sealing seams completely, and roll into balls.
  5. Arrange dough balls on baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.
  6. Whisk egg and water together and brush lightly over dough balls.
  7. Bake for 16โ€“18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Mix melted butter, garlic, Parmesan, parsley, rosemary, basil, and salt.
  9. Brush garlic herb butter generously over hot bread.
  10. Serve warm with marinara, pizza sauce, or pesto.

Notes

Seal the dough tightly around the cheese to prevent leaking. Brush the garlic herb butter on while the bread is hot for the best flavor.
