Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • Chopped parsley or sliced green onions (optional garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, cornstarch, and water or broth until smooth.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened.
  7. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sauce.
  8. Add lemon juice if desired, then remove from heat.
  9. Garnish with parsley, green onions, or sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Use large shrimp for best texture. Remove shrimp before thickening the sauce to prevent overcooking. Adjust sweetness or heat to taste before serving.
